Mayor Bill de Blasio Calls For Boycott of Chick-fil-A For Praising GOD

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio wanted to boycott Chick-fil-A because the fast food chain prints Biblical messages on their packaging, which the Mayor says are criminal.

But, reality is Blasio is shaken ever since the fast food chicken joint opened its first store in New York last fall. After he found out about their plans to open a store, he unleashed a torrent of opposition and warned:

“[CHICK-FIL-A] IMPARTS A STRONG ANTI-LGBT MESSAGE BY FORCING THEIR EMPLOYEES AND VOLUNTEERS TO ADHERE TO A POLICY THAT PROHIBITS SAME-SEX LOVE. … IT IS OUTRAGEOUS THAT CHICK-FIL-A IS QUIETLY SPREADING ITS MESSAGE OF HATE BY FUNDING THESE TYPES OF ORGANIZATIONS.”

Bill de Blasio then said every New Yorker needs to boycott the fast food restaurant:

“I’M CERTAINLY NOT GOING TO PATRONIZE THEM AND I WOULDN’T URGE ANY OTHER NEW YORKER TO PATRONIZE THEM.”

In the end, he didn’t influence anyone to boycott the chain because people like how their fried chicken tastes. Antoine Dodson, internet star, who is openly gay and has dedicated his life to Christ said that the restaurant should be applauded instead of boycotted:

“THE PEOPLE AT THE RESTAURANTS ARE SWEET, AND THEY GREET ME KINDLY. IF WE STOP COMING, THEM HARDWORKING PEOPLE IN THAT BUILDING NO LONGER HAVE JOBS. THERE’S A PICTURE IN THIS WORLD WAY BIGGER … THOSE PEOPLE WORK REALLY HARD, AND THEY HAVE FAMILIES AND STUFF. I’M SUPPORTING THOSE HARD WORKERS IN THE KITCHEN.”

Chick-fil-A has a strict policy that has helped them over the years to excel in the chicken business. Since the company follows Christian values, they follow codes of ethics like closed restaurants on Sunday and others. The company believes that “the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil,” so the franchisees are allowed to operate only one restaurant.

Al Puglisi, who opened the Chick-fil-A at Sixth Avenue and 46th Street, said:

“THE COMPANY’S MINDSET IS THAT IT WANTS ME TO BE REALLY FOCUSED ON THIS LOCATION INSTEAD OF WORRYING ABOUT EXPANDING AND MANAGING AN ENTERPRISE LIKE MOST FAST FOOD FRANCHISEES.”
